JUST WEST YORKSHIREEQUAL OPPORTUNITIES POLICY STATEMENT Equal Opportunities means: The responsibilities of our staff and employment policies for recruitment, selection, training, development and promotion are designed to ensure that no job applicant, employee or client receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of:

This policy statement is based on appropriate legislation and is designed to provide a framework within which equality of opportunity can operate effectively within the Centre.The objective of this policy is to ensure that individuals are selected, promoted and otherwise treated solely on the basis of their demonstrated skills, abilities and potential to do a job effectively. Supervisors/Managers need to take overall responsibility for the successful implementation of the policy by:
  • Making the policy known to all staff and job applicants to the Centre
  • Providing appropriate opportunities to develop the employment potential of all employees
  • Ensuring all existing and potential employees and contractors receive equal consideration to undertake a job
  • All Committee Members and employees are bound by this policy and must:
  • Comply with this Equal Opportunities policy statement or face disciplinary penalties
  • Co-operate with measures introduced by management to make sure there is equality of opportunity
  • Not themselves discriminate, for example, as supervisors or as persons responsible for dealing with clients and/or decisions in recruitment, promotion or deployment
  • Not induce or attempt to induce other employees or clients to practice unlawful discrimination
  • Draw attention to the Director orally and in writing to suspected discriminatory acts or practices
  • Not victimise or attempt to victimise employees or clients on the grounds that they have made complaints or provided information about discrimination on any grounds
  • Not harass, abuse or intimidate other employees or clients
  • Understand that harassment, abuse or intimidation of other employees or clients will be treated as a disciplinary matter and action will be taken against offenders
  • Ensure that all contractors working on behalf of JUST operate within an equal opportunities framework and is able to comply with JUST equal opportunities policy.
